California Parents of Young Children Struggle to Pay for Basic Needs

The RAPID-California Voices Project is shining a light on how parents and caregivers are faring in the Golden State. Initiated in November 2022, this multi-year, statewide survey of households with young children aims to better understand the needs of families, amplify parent voices, and promote data- and parent-informed policies and programs.

In this first fact sheet, we focus on the data we have gathered so far on parents’ experiences of material hardship, their well-being, and awareness and likelihood of using the state’s new transitional kindergarten program.
